For sale is one used speedometer or tachometer tunnel housing. P/N 6480914 Correct for Corvettes 1968-1971 (Green Plastic) Will Work for Corvettes 1972-1977 (Blue Plastic) The green plastic tunnels were used in Corvettes from 1968-1971. After that, the tunnels were blue plastic for the 1972-1977 years**. The tunnels tabs and guide posts are in very good condition (Pictures). The lower middle mounting hole is in good condition (pictures). The black paint finish in the visible tunnel area is in very good condition (Pictures). This is a very good original speedo/tach tunnel for your Corvette. Genuine GM Part**All of the tunnels have part number 6480914 cast on them which GM calls out in the Parts and Accessories Catalogs (P&A) thru 1981 (Grp 9.747) as “1968-1974, Instrument Face Cluster Glass Retainer (Speedo and Tach)”. The 1982 P&A eliminated this entry. At some point part number 6496849 was added to the blue tunnels so they have 2 numbers on them. The P&A Catalogs thru 1978 (Grp 9.743) have part number 6496849 listed as “1969-1977 Exc. Speed Warning, Case, Instrument Cluster (Speedo)”. The 1979 P&A added “Retainer” to the group heading and changed the 6496849 listing to “1969-1977 Exc. Speed Warning, Retainer, Speedo Lens”.
