Vintage Tamaya MS-733 Spica Micrometer Marine Sextant W/ Case Certificate Japan Vintage Tamaya MS-733 micrometer marine sextant with original fitted hard case, inspection certificate, 4x40 Tamaya coated telescope, and visible accessories shown in the photos. The inspection certificate identifies this as a Tamaya Micrometer Marine Sextant, Model MS-733, Serial No. 42694. The case label also shows Tamaya & Company Limited, Tokyo, Japan, with serial number 042694 and date marking that appears to indicate 6/82. This is a quality Japanese marine navigation sextant, often referred to as the Tamaya Spica MS-733. It appears to be complete with case, certificate, telescope, shades, and accessory compartment items shown. Condition Note: Good vintage condition overall with normal age, handling wear, dust, scuffs, light scratches, small finish chips, and some tarnish/discoloration on the arc. Case has exterior wear and interior dust. Accessory compartment cover has scratches/cloudiness, and one small hinge/metal area shows rust/corrosion. The included small brush has bent / misshapen bristles. One small cleaning accessory or similar item appears to be missing from the fitted accessory compartment. Mirrors, lenses, shades, and telescope are present as shown, but I have not personally tested or calibrated the sextant. The previous owner reportedly used it for sailing until a couple of years ago, but it is being sold as untested by current seller.
