Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself. There is also the number "48" on the center bottom of the back plate below the logo. Antique Japy Freres Clock and Candle Garniture Set Bell Strike Running France Item Description Here is a great Japy Freres clock and garniture set for your buying consideration. Beautiful antique boudoir clock. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself. The clock and garnitures have a nice gold colored gilt finish on the metal trim to them. The gilt finish is still quite shiny and shows well, some minor tarnishing with age. Might be gold plating as well as the finish has stayed, but no way to be sure, so you be the judge before acquiring. The clock was probably made in the 1870s to 1880s period. This fine Antique Clock and Garniture Set is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a high end auction house or clock shop. We have been selling clocks out of our home for over 35 years. We are therefore better positioned to control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that the high end auction houses and clock shops experience. The clock and garnitures all match up. The clock and garnitures have lion claw legs on the front with great detailing. The cases for the clock and the candle garnitures are all there. Beautiful incising with gold paint on the front case of the clock and the front bases of the candlestick garnitures. The cases/bases are made of marble and slate. Nice red and black pieces. We see no cracks, splits, repairs, or missing pieces to report to you. There is some minor chipping to the edges of the marble/slate components, see pics. "3479" is etched into the concrete base of the clock.Beautiful antique white what appears to be porcelain face on this clock. No cracks or hairlines to the face. Beautiful black colored painted on numbers. The hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The name of the jeweler whom sold the clock originally is also noted on the clock face in black paint worn though, so not legible. The bezel is firmly attached to the case that holds the beveled glass. The glass is in good shape, not cracking or blistering. Some minor surface scratching to the glass. The candlestick garnitures have all their pieces and toppers. Do not see any cracks or repairs to any of the metal trim pieces. Just an immaculate example of the workmanship of this French clock maker.Great Japy Freres movement on this clock. The clock movement was just serviced and cleaned by Clock Doc. We have not had the clock long enough yet to determine if running and striking correctly. The movement has the Japy Freres trademark on it and the numbers "7324". Has that same number impressed onto the pendulum bob, so matching numbers on both which is uncommon nowadays. There is also the number "48" on the center bottom of the back plate below the logo. The clock has a bell chime. Strikes once on the half hour and the number of hours on the hour. The rear door on the clock is in beautiful condition and securely attached to the case. Appears to have been re-lacquered at some point. The clock comes with an older winding key. This clock is in running and striking condition. The clock stands 18" tall, by 10-1/8" across, by 5.5" wide. The clock face is 3-3/8" across. Each of the garnitures stand 17" tall by 5.5" across, by 4-3/8" wide. The clock may be partially disassembled (topper taken off, etc.) to more safely ship it to you. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. We are selling this clock in running and striking condition at this juncture, no warranty intended. There is no representation that the clock is in original condition, or will continue to be in working order. The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well. With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description. As can be expected when dealing with an antique clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, we would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it. Make sure that this item meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. The item can be returned, there is a 15% fee of the Item Cost, plus 100% of both Shipping Costs to do so. So, please carefully review all the attached pictures, read the complete listing description, ask all the questions you have, come see in person or send a friend to see the item on your behalf, prior to deciding to acquire it.
