Chelsea Ship’s Clock 12E Phenolic Case Circa 1943, Restored · The case has been cleaned, polished out and a buffed hard wax finish applied. These Chelsea clocks were used throughout the US military from WWI through the Vietnam war. · The Teak wood disk has a yellow-walnut stain applied with a number of shellac coating layers applied. Legacy Trail, St. Augustine, FL 32092 Offered for sale is an 8-day, time-only, Chelsea 12E movement in a Phenolic (Bakelite) case mounted on a Teak disk. The movement was made between 1943 and 1944 has undergone complete cleaning (including the escapement platform),, repaired as needed, and lubrication. · The case has been cleaned, polished out and a buffed hard wax finish applied. The window glass is bonded to the bezel with a PSA tape adhesive and is additionally secured by a brass wire tension band.· Dial has been refreshed and the reflecting ring re-silvered with lacquer sealant coating. · The Teak wood disk has a yellow-walnut stain applied with a number of shellac coating layers applied. The final finish has been knocked down and polished out with a buffed hard wax top coat. Recessed into the back side of the disk is an integral hanger. Only a #8 screw needed to hang on the wall. This method ensures the clock is held close to the wall for optimal retention.· It is recommended that a screw in plaster board anchor, lead or plastic, be used as they have the best load capacity and do not easily pull out. The clock should be good for many years into the future. Includes key.
